This 2-hour workshop will look at how to make images to give a sense of place, a portrait of a location. You will learn different technical and creative approaches to making a series of images that give an overall impression. From getting close up and personal while mastering shallow depth of field, to wide sweeping establishing shots of iconic landmarks. We will also be on the constant lookout for those 'only in [city]' moments.
Playing with light and shadows you will be encouraged to explore the interplay between light and shadows in street photography to create visually striking images with depth and drama.
You will also pick up tips on how to make use of strong compositional techniques, such as the rule of thirds, leading lines, and visual balance.
It is also the first day of the [city] Mod weekender. So expect a lot of colour and characters with their Vespas in all their finery, just wanting to be photographed!

We will also look at how important composition is, and the wide varieties of approach that can be used for architecture to create some arresting images.
The train station itself boasts some impressive period architectural details, and then the new development behind it shows a marked contrast in architectural styles. There will be plenty of opportunity to make some creative images and hopefully you will never look at buildings in quite the same way!
